About Us
West Australian Maldivian Association Inc. (WAMA) was founded in 2018 by a group of Maldivians living in Perth, WA. The larger objective of WAMA is to promote multicultural relations and celebrate the unique culture and traditions of the Maldivian community in WA. The younger generation of Maldivians, especially those who are born in Australia, have very little exposure to Maldivian culture, traditions, and language directly. WAMA therefore strives to promote these traditions among our younger generations. It aims to do so by also promoting the multicultural nature of our WA society through conducting social and educational activities.
While small, the Maldivian community is growing steadily, and WAMA is proud that a large number of them our members. Our membership is open to all who believe in the objectives and values that we uphold.
Our Mission
West Australian Maldivian Association Inc. (WAMA) is an association that supports multiculturism and was therefore formed as a platform for the Maldivian community living in WA to interact and engage with fellow Maldivians, other ethnic communities and the wider Australian community.
